Exhaust Manifold Assembly of ALCO LOCOMOTIVES is manufactured for use on 16 Cylinder Diesel Engines. Spare parts of Exhaust Manifold Assembly are also available and these parts are interchangeable.

CONSTRUCTION :- Exhaust Manifold Assembly and its Components are fabricated from AISI 321 Grade Austenitic Stanless Steel Sheet. This grade of steel contains Titanium and its main characteristic is to withstand very high temperatures and is less Corrosive than other qualities of Steel. Use of Grade 321 Stainless Steel enhances the life of manifold and prevents premature failure.

BELLOWS :- Bellows used in Exhaust Manifold are made from AISI Grade 321 Austenitic Stanless Steel Sheet with 4 Plies and 3 Convolutions according to EJMA Standard. Bellows give correct expansion and contraction with satisfactory life cycle.

ELBOWS :- Elbows are manufactured by cold bending process. This process avoids any change in metallurgical properties of the mother metal and controls thinning of the area affected during bend.

WELDING :- Due to the Titanium content in AISI Grade 321 Austenitic Stanless Steel , we use 'LOW AMPS INPUT' advanced welding process - GAS TUNGSTEN ARC WELDING with the help of insert consumeables. Stringent checks over welding parameters result in producing nearly uniform mechanical properties in the weld metal, heat affected zone and base metal in the as welded condition. Dye Penetration Test and Hydraulic Tests are conducted to check quality of welded products.

FITMENT :- Exhaust Manifold is checked for fitment on specially designed jig. This ensures smooth fitting of the system on the Engine.
